Scream Arena from York, England first came to my attention over a year ago when a couple of tracks came into the station and were played on the shows. The self-titled debut album from the band, released through Mighty Music / Target Group is currently being promoted by the good folk over at Head First Entertainment in the USA. It’s an album that is well worth checking out if you like your rock delivered with a strong classic hard rock sound and it was produced and recorded by Paul Sabu, a name that will be familiar to many.

It was Paul Sabu who encouraged the band to record a cover of “Heartbreak Hotel” and I have to admit that it works really well. Other favourite tracks include the opener “Born Ready” which was one of the tracks sent to us originally, “House of Pain”, “Another Night In London” and “Knave of Hearts”.

Scream Arena was originally formed in 2005 by vocalist Andy Paul. There have been a few line-up changes over the last few years, but the band has now stabilised with Alex Mullings and Phil O’Dea on guitars, Lincoln J Roth on bass and Michael Maleckyj on drums joining Andy Paul.

About “NI Rocks Recommends”

I'm not a reviewer and I certainly don’t claim to be a journalist, but I wanted to acknowledge some of the great music being submitted to Rock Radio NI by artists, promoters and labels. That was the simple idea behind “NI Rocks Recommends”. To be honest I’m not really a big fan of the whole idea of “Reviews” as they just represent one person’s opinion!!  So I'm not giving marks or ratings, trying to categorise bands or compare artists. The albums that I’ll be recommending are merely those that I would buy myself and which you’ll be hearing played on my shows on Rock Radio NI.
