“The Quiet Monster” is the second album from German band Gloomball and it is released through Steamhammer/SPV on 30th March. Their debut album “The Distance” was released in 2013 and still features on my iPod playlists. Unfortunately though the original MP3 files where among many casualties when my hard-drive crashed during 2013 – hence why they haven’t featured on the NI Rocks Shows recently! Thankfully the absence of Gloomball from our shows can now be rectified by the release of “The Quiet Monster”, which if anything is an improvement on the debut album. The track “Monster” was included on the Friday NI Rocks Show on 20th March.

Gloomball are vocalist Alen Ljubic, guitarists Bjorn Daigger and Jossi Lenk, bassist Basti Moser and drummer Danny Joe.  The band attribute some of the change and development since the debut album to the inclusion of all the band members in the recording process, though Ljubic remains at the forefront with his lyric writing.

There are 12 tracks on the album, including the brief intro entitled “The Quiet”. Favourite tracks would include “Monster”, “Straight to Hell”, “Towards The Sun”, “Sirens (Die Alone)”, “(Don’t) Surrender” and “Unbreakable”.

About “NI Rocks Recommends”

The simple idea behind “NI Rocks Recommends” is to acknowledge and promote some of the great music being submitted to Rock Radio NI. I'll not be giving marks or ratings or analyzing the tracks in great detail; just telling you something about the artist and the album. What it isn’t is a “review”!

My musical tastes cover most things rock; from the not too melodic to the not too heavy. The albums that I’ll be recommending are merely those that I would buy myself and which you’ll be hearing played on my shows on Rock Radio NI.
