My second recommendation this week for a Welsh band is for “Zero Hour”, the new album from Triaxis which was released on 18th May via Rocksector Records. This is the third album from the band who formed in 2006, following on from “Key to the Kingdom” in 2009 and “Rage and Retribution” (also via Rocksector) in 2012. The album was funded through a Pledge Campaign, reaching 100% in a matter of hours and passing 200% before it closed.

The Triaxis line-up has changed slightly since the previous album. There are the three founding members of Krissie Kirby on vocals, CJ on rhythm guitar and Giles on drums; then Glyn on lead guitar since 2010 and finally new girl Becky who joined in 2014 to play bass. The band are currently on tour in England and are also booked for the SOS Festival in Manchester in July and Bloodstock in August.

The lead-off single from “Zero Hour” was “Victorious” which was made available for free download. I played that track on the A-Z Show back in April and recently played the track “Stand Your Ground” on the Friday NI Rocks Show. “Victorious” at 3 minutes 58 seconds long is the only one of the 12 tracks on the album that lasts for less than 4 minutes! For me, other stand-out tracks would include – “Death Machine”, “Terraform”, “Queen of the Iceni”, “Voices” and the almost 11 minute long title track “Zero Hour”

About “NI Rocks Recommends”

The simple idea behind “NI Rocks Recommends” is to acknowledge and promote some of the great music being submitted to Rock Radio NI. I'll not be giving marks or ratings or analyzing the tracks in great detail; just telling you something about the artist and the album. It’s a personal recommendation, not a traditional “review”!

My musical tastes cover most things rock; from he not too melodic to the not too heavy. The albums that I’ll be recommending are merely those that I would buy myself and which you’ll be hearing played on my shows on Rock Radio NI.
