A lot has happened with Reds’ Cool since I published a recommendation for their previous album “Bad Story” almost two years ago. They’ve changed their lead singer and bass player and popped up in Belfast earlier this year when they were supporting UFO on tour. That tour followed other tours with Black Star Riders and Vain, and appearances at Hard Rock Hell AOR in Wales and Rock of Ages Open Air in Germany. The latest album from the Russian band is called “Press Hard” and it was released on 28th August.

This is the third album from the band, although the first in 2011 was released under the name Oldschool. That album was called “Attraction” and it along with “Bad Story” are available as free downloads from Bandcamp; via links on the band’s website - http://www.redscool.net/ .

There are nine tracks on “Press Hard” and it is another great offering from the band. I’ve already played a track called “The Way I Am” on the Friday NI Rocks Show (broadcast on 24th July). Other favourites include opening track “Dangerous One”, “My Way”, “Brand New Start” and “Call Me”.

Reds’ Cool are Slave “Spark” Aleksanov on vocals, Ilja “Lu” Smirnov and Sergei Fedotov on guitars, Dima “Dee” Pronin on bass and Andrew Krouglov on drums. The band tour Europe with Black Trip (subject of the next album recommendation that I’ll be posting) during September before going back out on the road with UFO later in the year.

There aren’t any official videos available for tracks from “Press Hard” yet but here’s one I recorded for “Hey You” from “Bad Story” when they played Belfast this year –

About “NI Rocks Recommends”

The simple idea behind “NI Rocks Recommends” is to acknowledge and promote some of the great music being submitted to Rock Radio NI. I'll not be giving marks or ratings or analyzing the tracks in great detail; just telling you something about the artist and the album. It’s a personal recommendation, not a traditional “review”!

My musical tastes cover most things rock; from the not too melodic to the not too heavy. The albums that I’ll be recommending are merely those that I would buy myself and which you’ll be hearing played on my shows on Rock Radio NI.
