The Defiants released their self-titled debut album through Frontiers Music on 15th April. The driving force behind The Defiants are three current or former members of Danger Danger, including singer Paul Laine who had replaced Ted Poley in the band from 1993 – 2004. The three were only together in Danger Danger for a short period, but they have come together now to release an album that will appeal to anyone who has a taste for that classic melodic hard rock sound. The track "Love And Bullets" is included on the Friday NI Rocks Show on 29th April.

Joining Laine is Bruno Ravel who played bass, guitar and keyboards on the album as well as producing it.  Ravel is a founder member of Danger Danger and is still performing with that band. He and drummer Steve West are the only Danger Danger members to have been with the band since it formed in 1987. The other Danger Danger member involved in The Defiants is lead guitarist Rob Marcello (a member of Danger Danger since 2003).  Joining those three in The Defiants is drummer Van Romaine.

Favourite tracks would include “Love And Bullets”, “When The Lights Go Down”, “Lil’ Miss Rock ‘n’ Roll” and “We All Fall Down”.

About “NI Rocks Recommends”

The simple idea behind “NI Rocks Recommends” is to acknowledge and promote some of the great music being submitted to Rock Radio NI. I'll not be giving marks or ratings or analyzing the tracks in great detail; just telling you something about the artist and the album. It’s a personal recommendation to go check something out, not a traditional “review”!

My musical tastes cover most things rock; from the not too melodic to the not too heavy. The albums that I’ll be recommending are merely those that I would buy myself and which you’ll be hearing played on my shows on Rock Radio NI.
