“Last Tiger” is the fourth album from English band Change of Heart since their debut album back in 1998. More than ten years separate the release of “Last Tiger” by Escape Music on 22nd July and the previous album “Truth or Dare” in 2005. Founding member Alan Clark, who is the lead vocalist, guitarist and song-writer, has resurrected the band and the new album is definitely worth checking-out. The 11 tracks deliver great melodic hard rock vocals and plenty of guitar solos. I played the track “Rise To The Challenge” on the Friday NI Rocks Show on 15th July.

All four Change of Heart albums have been released through Escape Music – the self titled debut in 1998, the follow-up “Continuum” in 2000, “Truth or Dare” in 2005 and now “Last Tiger”. The band shouldn’t be confused with the Canadian band of the same name that were active during the 80’s and 90’s.

Only Alan Clark remains from the original line-up. The band for “Last Tiger” featured Nick Catterick on lead guitar, John Sykes on keyboards, Jeff Hopkins on bass and Sam Ogden on drums.  Paul Hume from the band Lawless mixed and produced the album and also makes a guest guitarist and backing vocals appearance.

In addition to “Rise To The Challenge”, my favourite tracks would be “Wayward Son”, “March of the Souls”, “Last Tiger”, “Only Tomorrow” and “Silent Rage”.

About “NI Rocks Recommends”

The simple idea behind “NI Rocks Recommends” is to acknowledge and promote some of the great music being submitted to Rock Radio NI. I'll not be giving marks or ratings or analyzing the tracks in great detail; just telling you something about the artist and the album. It’s a personal recommendation to go check something out, not a traditional “review”!

My musical tastes cover most things rock; from the not too melodic to the not too heavy. The albums that I’ll be recommending are those that you’ll hear me playing tracks from on my shows on Rock Radio NI.
