Souls of Tide are a Norwegian band who release their debut album “Join The Circus” through Mighty Music (part of the Target Group) on 26th August. I played the lead-off single “She’s Dead” on the Friday NI Rocks Show on 17th June and again on 19th August. That is undoubtedly the best of the 9 tracks on the album, but the others are worth checking out too.

The six members of Souls of Tides all came from other rock or metal bands and all bring their own influences. The resulting sound has a specifically 70’s feel to it. The album was recorded with producer Endre Kirkesola over the course of a week in a cabin in the Norwegian mountains.

Souls of Tide are Vegar Larsen on vocals, Anders Langberg  and Ole Kristain Østby on guitars, Øyvind Strõnen Johannesen on bass, Tommy Kristiansen on drums and Kjetil Banken on keyboards. Check out the band’s Facebook page for more info - https://www.facebook.com/soulsoftide/

In addition to “She’s Dead” my favourite tracks from “Join The Circus” would probably be “Once Again” and “Easy Love”.

About “NI Rocks Recommends”

The simple idea behind “NI Rocks Recommends” is to acknowledge and promote some of the great music being submitted to Rock Radio NI. I'll not be giving marks or ratings or analyzing the tracks in great detail; just telling you something about the artist and the album. It’s a personal recommendation to go check something out, not a traditional “review”!

My musical tastes cover most things rock; from the not too melodic to the not too heavy. The albums that I’ll be recommending are those that you’ll hear me playing tracks from on my shows on Rock Radio NI.
