“Breathless” is the fifth album from British melodic rock band Dante Fox and it is released on 26th August via the AOR Heaven label. The band formed back in 1989 but didn’t release their debut album until 1996. They’ve been regulars in the line-up for Firefest and the Hard Rock Hell festivals over the past few years and I’m looking forward to catching them at the HRH AOR Festival in March 2017. The track “Young Hearts” was included on the Friday NI Rocks Show on 29th July.

Dante Fox was formed by vocalist Sue Willetts in 1989 when she teamed up with guitarist Tim Manford.  After a few years the band came to the attention of Rich Bitch Studios where bands such as Black Sabbath, Slade and Magnum had recorded. They eventually released their debut album “Under Suspicion” in 1996; followed by “The Fire Within” in 1999. At that point they took a break, reforming in 2005 to play Firefest and support Vixen and Girlschool on tour before releasing their third album “Under The Seven Skies” in 2007. Over the next few years, as well as playing Firefest and HRH regularly, they opened for Night Ranger, toured with Romeo’s Daughter and released their fourth album “Lost Man’s Ground” (2012). Sue was also voted number 19 in the Top 50 female vocalists of all time in a Classic Rock Magazine poll.

The Dante Fox line-up has changed over the years but Sue Willotts on vocals and Tim Manford on lead guitar have been the core element throughout. The current line-up also includes Andy Perfect on drums, Alan Mills on bass and Eric Ragno on keyboards.

In addition to “Young Hearts” my favourite tracks from the 11 on the album would include Breathless”, “Break These Chains”, “I Can’t Stop Tonight”, “Dynamite” and “How Will You Know (Where To Find Me)”.

About “NI Rocks Recommends”

The simple idea behind “NI Rocks Recommends” is to acknowledge and promote some of the great music being submitted to Rock Radio NI. I'll not be giving marks or ratings or analyzing the tracks in great detail; just telling you something about the artist and the album. It’s a personal recommendation to go check something out, not a traditional “review”!

My musical tastes cover most things rock; from the not too melodic to the not too heavy. The albums that I’ll be recommending are those that you’ll hear me playing tracks from on my shows on Rock Radio NI.
