Pennsylvania native Stefanie Johnson released her debut album, “Stefanie”, through Escape Music on 24th February. This is one of those albums that crosses a lot of genres, from rock to pop and country, and had it not been marketed by Escape Music there is a good chance that I wouldn’t have checked it out. I’m glad I did though! Whilst some of the tracks are a bit outside my usual listening range, Stefanie is an extremely talented singer / song-writer and there is certainly enough to warrant a recommendation on the Rock Radio NI website. I played the track "All I Know" on the Friday NI Rocks Show on 24th February.

The album was recorded with producer Brian J Anthony who also plays guitar, bass and drums on the tracks. Paul Franceschini plays acoustic guitar and there are guest appearances from Meat Loaf guitarist Paul Crook, Prophet guitarist Ken Dubman and Charlie Calv on keyboards.

Stefanie found a passion for music and songwriting at an early age, playing festivals in Pennsylvania’s Lehigh Valley, appearing on the TV series “Steel Sessions”, performing in Nashville and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

There are 11 tracks on the album – my favourites would be “All I Know”, “Master of Disguise”, “Word Man” and “One Life”.

About “NI Rocks Recommends”

The simple idea behind “NI Rocks Recommends” is to acknowledge and promote some of the great music being submitted to Rock Radio NI. I'll not be giving marks or ratings or analyzing the tracks in great detail; just telling you something about the artist and the album. It’s a personal recommendation to go check something out, not a traditional “review”!

My musical tastes cover most things rock; from the not too melodic to the not too heavy. The albums that I’ll be recommending are those that you’ll hear me playing tracks from on my shows on Rock Radio NI.
