“Midnight Ghost” is the latest album from German power metal band Brainstorm and it was released on 28th September through AFM Records. This is their twelfth studio album since forming almost thirty years ago. It’s not a concept album as such but each of the songs share a common theme – ghosts and the supernatural. “The Pyre” was included on the Friday NI Rocks Show on 31st August and “Ravenous Minds” on the Show on 5th October.

Brainstorm formed in 1989 but it was 1997 before their debut album “Hungry” was released. Since then the band have been releasing albums on a fairly consistent basis, the last of which was “Scary Creatures” in 2016.

Three of the bands founding members from 1989 remain – guitarists Torsten Ihlenfeld and Milan Loncaric and drummer Dieter Bernert. Vocalist Andy B. Franck joined the band in 1999 for their third album whilst bass player Antonio Leva joined in 2007.

About “NI Rocks Recommends”

The simple idea behind “NI Rocks Recommends” is to acknowledge and promote some of the great music being submitted to Rock Radio NI. The albums that I’ll be recommending are those that you’ll hear me playing tracks from on my shows. I'll not be giving marks or ratings or analyzing the tracks in great detail; just telling you something about the artist and the album. It’s a personal recommendation to go check something out, not a traditional “review”!
