Annual rock/metal music festival Hard Rock Hell embarked on a pilgrimage in 2011 to recruit willing promoters, venues and music fans into their fold and help their dream come true.

That dream is to create a collection of chapter/club houses throughout the UK (and eventually Europe). These club houses and their associated organisers (known as Centurions) will work together to create a network of venues that can share a fan base, build working relationships with bands both local and touring, and participate in mini tours which will stop off at all venues in the HRH circuit. These will also act as hotbeds for the local music scene.

There will also be various benefits to joining the Hard Rock Hell groups (facebook is the best way to join/make contact at present). These will include discounted tickets to Music festivals Hard Rock Hell, Hammerfest and Ibiza Road Trip. Members will also be the first to know of upcoming events, gigs and tours through the HRH association with magazines Metal Hammer and Classic Rock, plus links with Rock Radio.

This year HRH Northern Ireland alongside the current UK Club houses/chapters, nominated a short -list of top quality local rock talent to HRH headquarters and these bands in turn were whittled down to a select few. This process will lead to a knockout band competition This October (22nd) in Glasgow where three winners will receive a spot on each of the associated music festivals (Hard Rock Hell, Hammerfest and Ibiza Road Trip). NI will be represented by Trucker Diablo, Sweet Taste and Last Known Addiction this year. Hopes are high that at least one of the acts will make the grade and grace the stage of one of the festivals.

Northern Ireland’s Club House is hosting its first club night in October (Saturday 15th, doors 9pm, door tax £3), at popular rock and sport venue Ma Nelsons in Belfast. This night will see the clubs resident DJs Young Gun and The Rev (Jason Kennedy and Phil Allely) and guests take to the decks to play a mix of classic rock favourites, metal hits and throughout the night there will be tracks from Trucker Diablo, Sweet Taste and last Known Addiction, amongst other local bands.

The second night on November (Sat 26th @ Ma Nelsons) will see HRH NI’s club night take the form of a preview to the upcoming Hard Rock Hell V festival. The DJs playing a heady mix of tracks by the stars new and old, who will grace the stage of that event in 2011.

December’s line-up is still under wraps (venue is confirmed as Ma Nelsons), but this will be the first live band headline tour to involve all of the UK-based HRH club houses/chapters. The three band line-up will feature one UK act, with support from two up and coming local bands. The local acts will be hand chosen by the HRH NI team.

Phil Allely said this about HRH NI “I’m really pleased to have the opportunity to build NI’s contribution to this UK-wide Hard Rock Hell club concept. We have such a good selection of hard working musical talent here and often we find ourselves losing out on touring acts/opportunities etc. due to where we are located. This link with other like-minded club houses and the national aspect to things will mean we have more opportunities to create links with mainland based promoters and bands. I see this as very good thing for NI’s rock scene, Ma Nelsons is the perfect venue for us and we hope that we can make this a successful venture. If people support our initial club nights and join our members list/Facebook groups etc. we will progress to bringing in touring UK bands and be in the position to give local bands a place to showcase their talent to the whole of the UK (maybe even further afield).”

“Our HRH NI team are very approachable (so feel free to speak to us anytime at all) and we hope that rock fans across NI will join us in celebrating the music we know and love. We welcome suggestions and anyone willing to help us spread the word too.”
