Other than a few tracks on YouTube, I wasn’t that familiar with Canadian metal band Unleash The Archers until I checked out their latest album “Apex” which was released on 2nd June via Napalm Records. I was really impressed with what I heard and when the opportunity arose to record an interview with lead singer Brittney Slayes, I thought it’d be an excellent chance to find out more about the band and the album. I spoke to Brittney via Skype on 15th June and you can hear what we chatted about, as well as four tracks from the new album on the Friday NI Rocks Show dated 23rd June. That Show is now available now from our MixCloud page - https://www.mixcloud.com/NIRocks/interview-with-brittney-slayes-from-unleash-the-archers-on-the-friday-ni-rocks-show-23rd-june-2017/

“Blind Faith” is the fourth album from Swedish band Mean Streak and it was released on 2nd June via Rock of Angels Records (ROAR). Promotion is being handled by our friends at Rock n Growl. The Swedish metal band formed back in 2008 and released albums in 2009, 2011and 2013, so this one is a little over-due! I played the track “Caught in the Crossfire” on the Friday NI Rocks Show uploaded on 11th May and “Settle the Score” is included on the Show being uploaded this week.
Frontiers Music has a well-deserved reputation for bringing together artists to collaborate on some great records. The release of the self-titled debut album from The Ferrymen on 2nd June provides further evidence that Serafino Perugino and the team at Frontiers know what they’re doing. The principle contributors in The Ferrymen are guitarist Magnus Karlsson from Primal Fear and vocalist Ronnie Romero from Lords of Black and Rainbow. I played the opening track “End of the Road” on the Friday NI Rocks Show uploaded on 27th April and "Ferryman" on the Show uploaded on 8th June.

Local band Baleful Creed released their excellent second album “Seismic Shifter” on 6th June. The band has been extremely popular on the local rock / metal scene for a number of years and their tracks regularly appear on Rock Radio NI. (In fact Baleful Creed appeared in the list of Top 10 most featured artists during the first six years of broadcasting the Friday NI Rocks Show). More recently, they’ve been getting some much deserved recognition on the wider national and international scene. With the release of “Seismic Shifter” that recognition is sure to grow. I’ve played the track “God’s Fear” a number of times on the Friday NI Rocks Show over the past few weeks and now that the album is available you can expect to hear more in the future!
