Airbourne are one of those bands that seem to draw their fair share of detractors. I’m guessing though that the O’Keeffe brothers couldn’t give a rats arse about their detractors. Personally, I’ve always been a big fan of the band – I’ve all 4 of their albums (and the earlier 8 track EP “Ready To Rock”) and have now witnessed their exuberant live performances in Belfast on 5 occasions; from June 2008 to the most recent in August 2016. Their latest album “Breakin’ Outta Hell” was released on the Spinefarm label on 23rd September. The title track was released as a single in July and was included on the playlist for the Friday NI Rocks Shows on 19th August and 16th September. It was also on the NI Rocks A-Z Show on 12th July. The follow-up single “Rivalry” is included on the Friday NI Rocks Show on 23rd September.

The Friday NI Rocks Show this week has a distinct focus on new releases. There are no 80’s / 90’s classic tracks for a change but still a couple of local bands on the playlist. We have a few tour related tracks as well. The Show kicks off with Thunder following the announcement of 2017 tour dates this week and specifically gigs in Belfast and Dublin. That’s followed by Diamond Head who play Voodoo in Belfast on 23rd September. They’ve just released a video for the track that I’m playing – “All The Reasons You Live”. Brian Tatler was my guest on the Show back in April and we replayed that interview a few weeks ago - http://www.rockradioni.co.uk/interviews/2575-ni-rocks-interview-with-brian-tatler-of-diamond-head.html

“The Dagon Years” is the debut album from Finnish band Psychework and it was released on the Ranka Kustannus label on 16th September. The band was established by two former members of the band Machine Men which had officially split in 2011 after releasing 3 albums and an EP between 2002 and 2007. Psychework has taken some time to establish a presence and release their debut album as singer Antony Parviainen has been battling leukemia. The track “Tide” was included on the Friday NI Rocks Show on 16th September.
