Graham Bonnet is one of those legendary names in rock music. The former frontman of Rainbow, the Michael Schenker Group, Alcatrazz etc has just released a new album and completed a UK tour in support of it. “The Book”, by the Graham Bonnet Band was released through Frontiers on 4th November and contains one CD of new material and one of tracks from Graham’s past that have been re-recorded. I spoke with Graham just before he went on stage in The Limelight in Belfast on 19th November to talk about the new album, future plans etc.
That interview was initially broadcast on the Friday NI Rocks Show on 25th November. You can listen to it on the NI Rocks MixCloud page - https://www.mixcloud.com/NIRocks/interview-with-graham-bonnet-on-the-friday-ni-rocks-show-on-25th-nov-2016/
“Freak Show Candy Floss” is the excellent new album from Voodoo Vegas, a band I’ve been following since I saw them in a support slot in Belfast in early 2010. I posted an interview with the band in June 2013 when they released their debut studio album “The Rise of Jimmy Silver” and they played a headline gig in Belfast that July. I’ve had a copy of the intriguingly named “Freak Show Candy Floss” since September as I’d joined the pledge campaign for the album. It was officially released on 4th November. The single “Killing Joke”, for which the band released a fantastic video, was included on the Friday NI Rocks Show on 21st October. I hope to have the band as guests on the Show in the near future; when we’ll be playing a few more tracks.

“Cemetery Junction” is the latest album from Demon, one of the initial NWOBHM bands, and is well worth checking out. It was released on 28th October via Plastic Head Distribution. “Cemetery Junction” is the fourth studio album to be released by Demon since they reformed in 2001; after a break of almost 10 years. I played the track “Turn on the Magic” on the Friday NI Rocks Show on 4th November and “Are You Just Like Me” is on the Show on 25th November.
“Chronicles of Aravan” is the sixth album from Spanish band DarkSun and this English language version was released by FC Metal on 28th October; following on from its release in their home country earlier in the year. Most of the tracks on the album tell the story of a warrior called Aravan and his revenge against those that burned his village and killed everyone. The track “Dragon Heart” was included on the NI Rocks A-Z Show on 11th October, “The Battle” was on the Friday NI Rocks Show on 4th November and “Broken Dreams” on the Friday NI Rocks Show on 18th November.
