“Pieces of Eden” is the second release from Impera, following on from “Legacy of Life” in 2012. Impera have been described as a “melodic rock supergroup”, though personally I think the ten powerful rock tracks delivered on “Pieces of Eden” would make me question the “melodic rock” categorisation. But then categorisation can be a very personal thing I suppose! Check out the album when it is released through Escape Music on 18th October 2013 and hopefully you’ll agree that what you have is ten excellent rock tracks regardless of how you want to categorise them!

Impera was formed by drummer JK Impera who recruited renowned session guitarist Tommy Denander, bass player Mats Vassfjord and vocalist Matti Alfonzetti. Together they have a wealth of experience and that is clearly evident in “Pieces of Eden” and the ten tracks that highlight the well documented talent of Denander and the excellent vocal range of Alfonzetti. There are no weak tracks but if I had to pick favourites I might go for “Beast Within”, “Since You’ve Been Gone”, “Goodbye” and “Fire and the Flame”.

About “NI Rocks Recommends”

I'm not a reviewer but wanted to acknowledge some of the great music being submitted to Rock Radio NI by artists, promoters and labels both within and outside of N Ireland. That was the idea behind “NI Rocks Recommends”. I'm not giving marks or ratings, trying to categorise bands or compare artists. The albums that I’ll be recommending would be those I’d buy myself, so there’ll be a strong focus on “classic rock” sounds; however you wish to define that! What you won’t get is death metal or similar genres. Each to his own, but that ain’t what I choose to listen to!

To be honest I’m not really a big fan of the whole idea of “Reviews” as they’re simply one person’s opinion!!  “NI Rocks Recommends” is therefore just my personal recommendation. Let's just say that if I've went to the bother of writing this, I think it's worth taking a listen to and you’ll be hearing it played on my shows on Rock Radio NI!!
