“Melodic” rock is (as I’ve said before) a very hit or miss genre for me. So when the promo material for the debut album from the Three Lions stated that the band were going to “take the Melodic Hard Rock scene by storm” I wasn’t too sure what to expect. Thankfully, the key word in that statement was probably “hard” as Three Lions deliver a great album with most tracks having a harder, heavier edge to them. The album entitled “Three Lions” was released by Frontiers Records on 18th April and is definitely worth checking out.

Three Lions were formed in late 2012 by former Dare and Ten members Vinny Burns on guitar and Greg Morgan on drums, along with Nigel Bailey on vocals. The President of Frontiers Records apparently had a role in bringing the three together, so it is little wonder that the release comes from Frontiers Records and that the bands’ first international show is at the Frontiers Rock Festival on 1st May.

My favourite tracks from the album are “Trouble In A Red Dress”, “Just A Man”, “Holy Water”, “Don’t Let Me Fall” and “Hellfire Highway”.

About “NI Rocks Recommends”

I'm not a reviewer and I certainly don’t claim to be a journalist, but I wanted to acknowledge some of the great music being submitted to Rock Radio NI by artists, promoters and labels. That was the simple idea behind “NI Rocks Recommends”. To be honest I’m not really a big fan of the whole idea of “Reviews” as they just represent one person’s opinion!!  So I'm not giving marks or ratings, trying to categorise bands or compare artists. The albums that I’ll be recommending are merely those that I would buy myself and which you’ll be hearing played on my shows on Rock Radio NI.
