I’ve played a single called “Bad Blood” from Welsh rockers Defy All Reason on a few occasions on the NI Rocks Shows. On 11th May, the band released the album “The Road Ahead” following a successful Pledge Campaign. We received a download of the album from our friends at Stampede Press and it certainly ticks a lot of boxes for me! Listeners to the show can expect to hear more from Defy All Reason.

The band had previously released an EP called “Every Second Counts” and had supported bands such as Breed 77, Jettblack, Jake E Lee’s Red Dragon and Trapt. The new album was produced by the band’s drummer Todd Edwards, although he and all the other members of the band are actually listed as co-producers. They are Gavin Lee Jones on lead vocals and guitar, Daz Jones on guitar and Lee Shenton on bass.

There are 13 tracks on the album; with a mix of fast paced, riff filled tracks and a few slower tunes. As well as the excellent first single “Bad Blood”, there’s a fairly respectable cover of Bon Jovi’s “Wanted Dead or Alive”. Other tracks that stand out for me are “Midnight Train”, “Bad Taste of You”, “Find My Way (Back To You)” and “Redemption”.

About “NI Rocks Recommends”

The simple idea behind “NI Rocks Recommends” is to acknowledge and promote some of the great music being submitted to Rock Radio NI. I'll not be giving marks or ratings or analyzing the tracks in great detail; just telling you something about the artist and the album. It’s a personal recommendation, not a traditional “review”!

My musical tastes cover most things rock; from the not too melodic to the not too heavy. The albums that I’ll be recommending are merely those that I would buy myself and which you’ll be hearing played on my shows on Rock Radio NI.
