Mark Slaughter released a solo album entitled “Reflections In A Rear View Mirror” digitally at the start of 2015, but the full release date for the CD was not until 22nd May. In the UK and Europe that release was through Escape Music. Mark of course is best known as the frontman for Slaughter and continues to perform with that band along with original members Dana Strum on bass and Jeff Bland on guitar. This solo release, which was also recorded and produced by Mark Slaughter, is well worth checking out and provides plenty of evidence that he is still delivering to the highest standard.

The first single from the album was “Never Givin Up” which was released in March with some of the proceeds going to the Red Circle Foundation supporting families of US military personnel. This track features on the Friday NI Rocks Show this week (29th May) and another track called “The Real Thing” was included on an earlier show. Other tracks that I would identify as favourites include “Away I Go”, “Miss Elainious” and “Baby Wants”.

Mark Slaughter plays all the instruments on the album apart from drums which are provided by Mark Goodin. The track “Don’t Turn Away” features Gena Johnson on vocals and Bill Jordan on keyboards. The album was mixed and mastered by Michael Wagener.

About “NI Rocks Recommends”

The simple idea behind “NI Rocks Recommends” is to acknowledge and promote some of the great music being submitted to Rock Radio NI. I'll not be giving marks or ratings or analyzing the tracks in great detail; just telling you something about the artist and the album. It’s a personal recommendation, not a traditional “review”!

My musical tastes cover most things rock; from the not too melodic to the not too heavy. The albums that I’ll be recommending are merely those that I would buy myself and which you’ll be hearing played on my shows on Rock Radio NI.
