“Spreading the Rock ‘n’ Roll Disease” is the latest album from Australian band Crosson – described as post-apocalyptic rock warriors in their PR material or ‘theatrical glam melodic rock” on their Facebook page! The album is released through Metalapolis Records on 7th October. Crosson are clearly influenced by bands such as Kiss, Alice Cooper and The Darkness and there is probably as much focus on the performance as the music. The track “All About The Music” is included on the NI Rocks A-Z Show broadcast on 4th October.

Listening to the ten tracks on the album there’s a lot of tongue-in-cheek lyrics, some even a tad cheesy – but it is done on the level of Kiss or The Darkness though; nothing as banal as Steel Panther. Which is perhaps a round-a-bout way of saying that I like it (obviously, or you wouldn’t be reading this recommendation).  Classic Rock Magazine described them as Kiss and Motley Crüe crossed with The Darkness and Steel Panther. Thankfully, I’d say there is more of the first two than the latter.

As well as the track included on the NI Rocks A-Z Show, my favourite tracks would be “Lies”, “Taxman”, “I’m Not Afraid” and “Rock For Your Money”. The band has just released a video for “All AboutThe Music”; a track that has a distinct David Bowie vibe in parts.

The band are Crosson on vocals, Amanda Easton on backing vocals, Joel McDonald on guitar, Jon Katirtsides on bass and Jordan McDonald on drums.

About “NI Rocks Recommends”

The simple idea behind “NI Rocks Recommends” is to acknowledge and promote some of the great music being submitted to Rock Radio NI. I'll not be giving marks or ratings or analyzing the tracks in great detail; just telling you something about the artist and the album. It’s a personal recommendation to go check something out, not a traditional “review”!

My musical tastes cover most things rock; from the not too melodic to the not too heavy. The albums that I’ll be recommending are those that you’ll hear me playing tracks from on my shows on Rock Radio NI.
