American band Through Fire only came to my notice recently when our friends at New Ocean Media got in touch. The band had formed in Nebraska in 2015 and signed with Sumerian Records to release their debut “Breathe” in July 2016. This recommendation actually relates to a new deluxe version of that album which was released on 7th March 2017. I included the title track “Breathe” on the Friday NI Rocks Show on 21st April.
Mat Sinner is one of those names that seems to appear on a very regular basis when I’m checking out new releases. He is probably best known for his involvement in Primal Fear, Voodoo Circle and the “Rock Meets Classic” tour as well of course for his band Sinner. When I recorded an interview with Mat in January 2016 we chatted about all these projects as well as his involvement in Level 10 with Russell Allen and the Kiske/Somerville album (http://www.rockradioni.co.uk/interviews/2460-ni-rocks-interview-with-mat-sinner-primal-fear-sinner-etc.html ). At that time the tracks for a new Sinner album were written, but not yet recorded. That album is “Tequila Suicide”, which was released by AFM Records on 31st March. I played the track “Road to Hell” on the Friday NI Rocks Show on 31st March and “Gypsy Rebels” is included on the Show on 21st April.
For some reason I still expect Night Ranger albums to be more mellow / AOR / melodic than they actually are. Once again it took me longer that it should to check the new album out, but once I did, I realized that there was plenty to like. The latest album “Don’t Let Up” was released by Frontiers Music on 24th March and the track “Somehow Someway” was included on the Friday NI Rocks Show on 14th April.
