Diesel is one of those bands that you may not have heard of yet, but which any discerning rock music fan will want to check out when they see who is involved in the project. On vocals you have Robert Hart (Bad Company / Manfred Mann’s Earth Band etc) and on guitar is FM’s Jim Kirkpatrick. Also making an appearance on the album providing backing vocals and additional guitar is FM frontman Steve Overland. The other Diesel band members are Pat Davey on bass and Jimmy Copley on drums. The debut album from the band is entitled “Into The Fire” and it was released through Escape Music on 23rd May.

I instantly liked the album when I first checked it out prior to downloading and it has continued to grow on me every time that I listen to it. To such an extent that picking favourite tracks from the 12 on the album was quite a difficult undertaking!! At the minute my 6 favourite would be “Love Under Cover”, “Into The Fire”, “Starting Over”, “Brand New Day”, “Fortune Favours The Brave” and “Skin And Bone”. Ask me next week and it will likely have changed again!

All songs are written and produced by Robert Hart & Jim Kirkpatrick. The album was recorded at Tremelo Studios in Stoke-On-Trent  and mixed by Tommy Hansen.

About “NI Rocks Recommends”

I'm not a reviewer and I certainly don’t claim to be a journalist, but I wanted to acknowledge some of the great music being submitted to Rock Radio NI by artists, promoters and labels. That was the simple idea behind “NI Rocks Recommends”. To be honest I’m not really a big fan of the whole idea of “Reviews” as they just represent one person’s opinion!!  So I'm not giving marks or ratings, trying to categorise bands or compare artists. The albums that I’ll be recommending are merely those that I would buy myself and which you’ll be hearing played on my shows on Rock Radio NI.
